Name, origin, and the token myth

GMGN Stands for Good Morning, Good Night

The greeting for markets that never close. Here's where the name comes from, what GMGN.AI actually is, and why there is no GMGN coin.

What Does GMGN Stand For?

GMGN stands for "Good Morning, Good Night." It joins the two crypto-native greetings — gm and gn — into one phrase about markets that never close. Memecoins trade 24/7, so traders greet the same charts morning and night. GMGN.AI adopted the phrase as its name: a multi-chain memecoin trading terminal built by GMGN Labs in Singapore, founded in June 2023 and live on Solana since May 2024. There is no official GMGN token.

Where the Name Comes From

Four letters, two greetings, one idea about time.

PartMeaningWhere you see it
gmGood morningThe standard opener in crypto X, Telegram and Discord — less a time of day than a way of saying "I'm here"
gnGood nightThe sign-off, often posted by people who are very much still trading
GMGNGood Morning, Good NightBoth at once: the market never closed, and neither did you

The joke inside the name is that on-chain trading has no bell. A terminal named "Good Morning, Good Night" is naming its users' sleep schedule.

What GMGN.AI Actually Is

The name is a greeting; the product is a memecoin trading terminal. GMGN.AI combines token discovery, on-chain security checks and one-tap execution across several chains, and it exists on three surfaces that share one account:

  • Web terminal at gmgn.ai — charts, the Trenches new-launch feed, wallet tracking, copy trading.
  • Telegram bots — trade from chat, one bot per chain. The verified handle list →
  • Mobile app — iOS and Android, same account.

It runs on Solana, Ethereum, Base and BNB Chain, with further chains added over time, and charges a flat 1% platform fee per trade — no subscription, no tiers. The complete fee math →

Who builds it

GMGN Labs, headquartered in Singapore. The company was founded in June 2023 and the Solana product went live in May 2024, during the first big memecoin bot wave. Its co-founders are known publicly as Haze, a trader who conceived the product and the name, and Jerry Ma, CEO. There is no publicly disclosed venture funding — the business runs on trading fees.

Scale, honestly stated

GMGN has processed $231.8M in all-time trading fees (DefiLlama, July 2026). It is also well past its peak: daily volume topped $235M on 19 January 2025 and is a fraction of that today, as Axiom and other terminals took share. It remains one of the most used multi-chain memecoin terminals, but "biggest" is no longer accurate — a claim worth checking whenever you read it elsewhere.

The GMGN Token Myth — Read This Before You Buy Anything

The single most dangerous confusion around this name.

There is no official GMGN token, coin, presale or airdrop. GMGN.AI makes money from the 1% trading fee. It has never launched a token.

That gap is actively exploited. Three things get mistaken for each other:

  • GMGN.AI — the real trading terminal at gmgn.ai.
  • Memecoins named "GMGN" — anyone can mint a token with any name. Some exist. None are issued by GMGN Labs, and buying one buys you no relationship with the platform.
  • Fake "GMGN token" sites — impersonation pages built to look official and drain wallets that connect to them. app-gmgn-ai.com is a documented example.

The rule that survives all of it: GMGN's only official web domain is gmgn.ai, its docs live at docs.gmgn.ai, and its X account is @gmgnai. Anything promising a GMGN airdrop, presale or "official token launch" is impersonation. The full verification checklist and known fakes →

Related Things People Mean by "GMGN"

  • "gmgn" in chat — just the greeting. Someone posting gm/gn is saying hello, not referencing the platform.
  • GMGN Labs — the company behind the terminal.
  • GMGN bot — the Telegram trading bots, the most common way people actually use it. Setup and official handles →
  • GMGN tip — not a gratuity: the priority fee attached to a transaction. What the tip is and what to set →

Name & Brand Questions

What does GMGN stand for?

GMGN stands for "Good Morning, Good Night". It comes from the crypto-native greetings gm and gn, and refers to markets that never close — memecoins trade around the clock, so traders say good morning and good night to the same charts. GMGN.AI took the phrase as its name.

What does gm and gn mean in crypto?

gm means good morning and gn means good night. They are the standard greetings in crypto communities on X, Telegram and Discord, used as a friendly signal of being present in the market rather than as literal times of day. GMGN simply joins the two.

Is there an official GMGN token or coin?

No. GMGN.AI has no official token. The platform earns from a flat 1% trading fee, not from a coin. Any site or account selling a GMGN token, presale or airdrop is not the real platform — impersonation sites promoting a fake GMGN token have been documented as wallet drainers.

Who is behind GMGN.AI?

GMGN.AI is built by GMGN Labs, based in Singapore, founded in June 2023 and live on Solana from May 2024. It is a memecoin trading terminal covering Solana, Ethereum, Base, BSC and further chains, with a web terminal, Telegram bots and a mobile app.
